The Passion of The Christ and Pornography
Many people have seen the movie, "The Passion of The Christ", (the controversial movie produced by anti-Semitic Mel Gibson which came out a few years ago, back in early 2004). Since this movie was and still is rated-"R", you might have wondered, "Was this then a porno movie?"
Many groups promoting porno movies and other types of pornography, (groups like The American Civil Liberties Union ["ACLU"]), like to "muddy the waters" about pornography, by claiming that "pornography cannot be defined". Back in 1964, Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart described pornography in this way: "I know it when I see it". I think that the common man or woman on the street would be in basic agreement with this statement; and would therefore disagree with the ACLU's opinion on the definition of pornography.
Pornography is often associated with the presentation of nudity and/or sexual intercourse or sexual innuendo. Because of its immoral depictions, pornography is sinful and wicked in any of its many forms. Therefore, no true Christian would ever want to be associated with the wicked sin of pornography.
Pornography is evil because it is immoral and therefore tends to corrupt mankind's morals. It is also wrong because God said in the Bible that looking at the naked body of someone you are not married to is a sin. Jesus said that a man "mentally disrobing" or otherwise looking lustfully at another women is the same as if he had just committed adultery with her:
"But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." (Matthew 5:28)
The movie "The Passion of The Christ", (although not filled with as much nudity as in most pornographic movies), was nevertheless produced by anti-Semitic Mel Gibson. Gibson has used sex and violence in quite a few of his movies in the past. Viewing graphic sex or violence in a pornographic film can have a negative effect on the mind, by making people less sensitive to acts of violence, cruelty, or sexual perversion. Therefore, such movies help to corrupt the morals of individual men and women and also of whole nations whose citizens watch such perverted pornographic movies.
The desire of many people in the United States of America for pornographic and violent movies has been increasing over the past few years. The viewing of such sex and violence by so many people has had the effect over time of dulling the nation's moral conscience. The resulting formation of a "weak conscience" among so many Americans through the watching of such pornographic and "R"-rated movies can be seen in what happened a few years ago in the State of Florida.
A Florida judge, ignoring the pleas of the parents of a mentally disabled woman, recently ordered this woman to be murdered. This woman, named Terry Schiavo, was then murdered in accordance with the judge's instructions. The watching of rated-"R" pornographic and extremely violent movies can indeed take a strongly negative toll on individuals and also on societies as a whole.
As you may already be aware of, the movie "The Passion of The Christ" is a rated-"R", bloody, Roman Catholic movie by the anti-Semite Mel Gibson. It can also be objectively classified as a "splatter film", based on its violent, blood-spattering content. (The term "splatter film" describes, "a film that has a lot of on-screen violence and blood-spilling. Compare snuff movie.") This "splatter film" horror genre also includes many other horror-type films, such as "Psycho" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", to name a few. The blood-spattering gore and violence in "The Passion of The Christ" is also "up close and personal", since much of its extreme violence and bloodshed is shown in "close-up" format in front of you on the movie screen.
The movie "The Passion of The Christ" also featured an actress, Monica Bellucci, who played Mary Magdalene in this movie. This actress is a well-known European "porn star" who once starred in one of the most perverted and disgustingly pornographic movies ever made. (See the references below.) In fact, this pornographic movie staring Monica Bellucci was so wicked and sexually perverted that many of those who went to review the film at a film festival experienced strong physical and/or psychological reactions, such as illness, vomiting and fainting.
Spiritual pornography, however, can be just as wicked and dangerous, if not more so, than "regular" or sexual pornography. Regular pornographic movies put images of things that should not be seen into the minds of those who view such sinful abominations. Spiritually pornographic movies can do basically the same thing. Satan knows that once such an image is placed into someone's mind, it can often become quite difficult for the person to get rid of it.
The movie "The Passion of The Christ" does indeed fall into the category of "spiritual pornography". It does so because it presents images of a false Christ, based on many false sources of information about Christ. The movie script itself was based on many different sources. These sources included the Roman Catholic Bible, various Roman Catholic mystics, and nuns, Roman Catholic traditions, and Mel Gibson's own personal Roman Catholic religious ideas.
I would say that this movie in some places basically does, (but not entirely), agree with the Bible's account of the final hours preceding the crucifixion of Christ. Nevertheless, in so many other places, this movie is at odds with the Biblical account of what actually happened to Jesus during His last twelve hours before He died. What the movie gives us therefore is a mixture of light with darkness, truth with error, God with Belial, and the true Christ with "another Jesus".
Some would say that this movie's spiritual pornography, in its presentation of "another Jesus", is an excusable act of wickedness. They may say that because such movie producers have a "right" to use what they call "poetic license" in their movies. Nevertheless, I have another description for the portrayal of Jesus as saying things that He did not actually say and of doing things that He did not actually do. I call such a portrayal, "lying about Jesus".
The reason I call it lying, is that I am a Fundamentalist Baptist and not a "New Evangelical" like Billy Graham, and Rick Warren, or a "Pseudo-Fundamentalist" like the late Jerry Falwell. Such "Bapticatholic" compromisers feel quite comfortable supporting this movie. This is not very surprising though, since such men have often closely cooperated in the past with the Roman Catholic Whore and it's autocratic leader, the Pope.
Although the consciences of others might not bother them about supporting a movie that is filled with lies about the Jesus, I certainly do not. Because I am a Fundamentalist Baptist, I therefore consider any support for such a movie to be a wicked sin against my Savior. Further, I believe that supporting any movie that makes slanders and lies about Jesus, (whether it be "The Last Temptation of Christ" or "The Passion of The Christ"), is a wicked sin. All such support for movies making lies about Jesus is in fact support for the wicked blasphemy of Christ.
